Appreciation Post

Hello Eat Safer’s.

As many of you will know having allergies is hard. Managing your own allergies, let alone expecting other people to understand the worries of your day is also hard.

That is why today I would like to give a HUGE shout out to my very supportive boyfriend. He is going to hate this, but I don’t care.

It’s coming up to 4 years since we first started going out, where has the time gone. I am not sure if he knew what he was getting himself into back then. I remember when I first told him I was Coeliac, he told me he didn’t want to catch it. It still makes me laugh to this day.

Thom has been the most supportive and caring person any girl with allergies and Coeliac disease could ask for.

Over the last 4 years he has eaten most meals gluten-free with me, without one complaint.
He has sacrificed his morning eggs so that our kitchen can be egg free. He label reads, and can cook gluten free pasta super well. He is understanding of having to make 10 toilet stops on our road trips if I am having a bad tummy day. He always lets me chose the restaurant so it’s me friendly, and he makes sure I have my Epi pen. Cross contamination is alway under total control at our place. I don’t know how he does it, but he puts up with some pretty strange noises that my tummy can make during the night. He held my hand and sat with me in the emergency room, when I had a nasty allergic reaction to egg. But most importantly, he understands.

Don’t get me wrong, the rest of my big crazy family and friends are also super supportive. But today I wanted to thank Thom, for all of the above reasons and for just being you.

So take a moment to think about those in your life who are super supportive of your allergies, and let them know you appreciate them.

Eat Safe Live Well,

Jess 🙂
