Good morning Eat Safers..
Well today really is a good morning. It’s a minty kinda of a morning.
I am starting my day out with a nice cup of green tea and mint.
Not only does it taste great, but the health and healing benefits are amazing..
Green tea has been used as a medicine for thousands of years, originating in China. Green tea has been known to increase metabolism and fat oxidation, due to its thermogenic properties, according to a study published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition. It also contains less caffeine than a coffee, fewer calories and is loaded with flavanoids and antioxidants!
Studies have shown that it can HELP play a role in: (I say HELP as this may not be the case for everyone)
– Helping with weight loss
– Helping prevent heart disease
– Can help in lowering cholesterol
– Can help prevent Alzheimer’s
– Can help prevent tooth decay
– Green tea can apparently help with aging skin
– Green tea has been proven to help lower rates of depression.
The list is endless.
One thing to consider if you’re not a regular tea or coffee drinker, is that green tea still contain caffeine. Not as much as black tea and coffee, but there is still a small amount. I don’t drink green tea before bed for that reason.
I also add fresh mint to my green tea. Mint has some amazing health properties.
Mint has one of the highest antioxidant capacities of any food.
It’s great for colds, allergies and for me it helps settle my stomach and reduces bloating.
I have also used chocolate mint as something different .. Yum, yum.
